Skreened spin-off Print Syndicate plans to expand considerably in the next three years.
The e-commerce company last week announced that it will hire 150 employees by 2016− an expansion that will increase its current workforce more than tenfold. Hires will include graphic designers, digital illustrators, social media and marketing professionals, and customer service representatives.
“Going from 15 to 165 employees is a big move for Print Syndicate, and we’ve chosen the Columbus region mainly because of its access to a niche talent pool,” says Michael Limes, co-founder of Print Syndicate. “We hope to tap into the tech-savvy, artistic minds coming out of the region’s various universities to help grow Print Syndicate’s presence in the e-commerce space.”
Print Syndicate maintains a fulfillment and distribution relationship with Skreened, syndicates its apparel designs to other e-commerce sites, including Zazzle.com and RedBubble.com, and sells products via its own e-commerce site, LookHuman.com.
“Designs created right here in the Columbus region, likely from talent coming right out of institutions like CCAD, are available on a worldwide stage via our website,” says Tanisha Robinson, co-founder of Print Syndicate.
Columbus has a deep well of design talent that has generally gone untapped, she says.
To ensure Print Syndicate’s content is timely, the company does research across all social media and creates designs based on what is trending right now.
The company is located in an 8,000-square-foot space downtown.
“CCAD has been a great supporter of our idea, and generously leased us a building on their campus,” Robinson says. “We’re excited to be a part of the great culture they’ve built, and we plan to hire many of their graduates in the coming years.”
