Robert Mason Launching Online Store on Black FridayAnnouncements, News — By Susan Post on November 25, 2013 at 8:00 am
A countdown on the front page of Robert Mason‘s website leads to a very important date – the launch of their online store on Black Friday.
“It’s almost like giving us more space when we don’t have a building for it,” Owner Robert Grimmett says of the site.
The online store will feature a curated collection of items from the downtown Columbus shop.
“It’s the special items I think make Robert Mason different,” Grimmett says. Signature Robert Mason office products will be featured alongside brand-name products they are proud to carry. Shoppers can expect to find a collection of notebooks, journals, cards, candles and other Robert Mason signature items.
The website will also feature the custom leather goods that Grimmett designs using leather from the area. The collection includes, iPad and Kindle cases, portfolios, journals and leather bags. When ordering online, customers will be alerted to the natural variance of color in leather goods. Since they are sourcing local, different types of leather are available at certain times of the year.
Overall, the online store will keep the items that are often cycled through the small pop-up space available to customers 24/7.
Items can be shipped nationwide or picked up in-store. Robert Mason online will share space and inventory with the downtown location.
Grimmett sees abundant advantages to expanding to the online space. Not only will the e-shop help expand their customer base, but it also provides a chance to tell the story behind the brand.
The site will tell the brand’s story through lifestyle photography snapped around Columbus with local models. Stories will garner attention to the unique in-store experience of Robert Mason. For example, the impressive pen-bar where customers can doodle with every color of pen imaginable is better experienced in-person. Additionally, the Friday launch will reveal a new Robert Mason logo that refocuses what the brand is trying to offer.
Grimmett describes the online store as, “An essential tool we needed.” Many consumers like to pre-shop, browsing items online before coming to the store.
To gear up for the big launch, Robert Mason will be stocked with new in-store products through Friday. The store will also offer specials for Black Friday, Small Businesses Saturday and Cyber Monday. Deals are accessible through special online codes on Facebook and Twitter and will feature in-store and online-only specials.
